A Winmau Glance at The Grand Slam of Darts

admin 13/11/2021

Aldersley Leisure Village, Wolverhampton hosts the Cazoo 2021 Grand Slam of Darts. The action begins November 14th, where we see 24 of the world’s best compete for the legendary Eric Bristow Trophy.

We take a look at the Winmau Team who will be competing in the Grand Slam and looking to get their hands on the £125,000 1st place prize

Looking to make a strong start, MvG is using his latest creations, the new 21.5g Exact darts against 4 x Women’s BDO World champion, Lisa Ashton in a Group G.

Number 3 in the World MvG is hunting down his first major of the year. Following his triumphs at inaugural Nordic Darts Masters and recent Players Championship 29 victory, Mighty Mike is hitting good form at the business end of the season

English born Joe Cullen qualified 16th for the Grand Slam by winning Player Championship 1 and 13, by taking out the Welsh World Cup pair Jonny Clayton and Gerwyn Price.

Joe has been drawn in Group G and will face current World Cup champion John Henderson in tomorrow‘s evening session.

Equipped with his new signature darts and polo, Joe is once again looking to light up the oche and look to finish the year off with his maiden TV major trophy.

Rewind to January 2021 and you’ll see Mervyn King putting on a darting masterclass, hitting 3 ton plus averages. He took out Glen Durrant, Rob Cross, Nathan Aspinall and Gerwyn Price on his way to the 2021 Masters final, earning his spot in the Grand Slam.

As fate would have it, the King now finds himself drawn against the eventual Masters winner, Jonny Clayton, in group B.

The King is back in form recently at the World Series of Darts Final, not dropping a single leg in round 1 and 2 plus hitting a 115 average in the process. Mervyn was only stopped by a superb performance from fellow Winmau player MvG who came out the winner at the quarter finals stage.

This Saturday, you will see The King take on UK Youth Development tour winner Bradley Brooks in the first match of Group B
